Weight Watcher Goals

I'm really bad at setting a weight goal. I'm always thinking is that low enough? And once again I am thinking...Is that low enough. But I've decided to wait 'til I'm closer to goal to really drive myself insane =) Right now I am going by the chart from Weight Watchers The chart is below unless you are really tall, then you will need to jump over to the site for the bottom half of the chart.

I also added a few links. Including my food journal, which will not be active until next week. I hope everyone is doing lots of prep work! I can't wait to get started.

Getting Ready

Hi everyone :)

I started listing links on the right hand side of our blog today and wanted to go over what I have there. What i have listed comes from Dottie's Weight Loss Zone (DWLZ) which I found over 8 years ago and have used it ever since. It has the most information on the different plans on Weight Watchers over the whole span they have been doing weight loss. The most vital part is in the Links section. She has every calorie counter, restaurant points, fast food points, recipes, nutritional information , just everything that you will need to know to loss weight and stay at it. It will take you some time to look over the site and find everything, but if you start with the links page you will find almost everything you need. There is a Ton of information on this site so I would say take your time and read everything that you can.

Dotti's Husband made a spreed sheet program they will send you for free that is called the weight commander and is located on the very top of the Links page on the website. I would suggest that you try and use it since it has everything you will need to stay organized on your journey. I just think this one website gives you so much information you may not need to hunt around at other site , so I wanted to share it with you since it has always helped me in the past.

On the DWLZ forums is were you will find information on how to count points, the math behind how to read food labels to determine the point value and a lot of other useful information. I will be searching the forums for information that I know will be helpful and be posting it here too.

I do realize that not everyone is doing weight watchers and we are all following our own plans, but I thought since I am doing WW that I would put what I had here on the blog to help anyone else following the plan.

The only other site that I have ever used besides DWLZ is I am a member of the the Weight watchers group on Yahoo for the past 9 years. They have ton of great links and information also . It is always great to get on a forum and talk to people that are already doing the plan. Hope this helps gals :)

Are you interested or committed?

I spotted this on livejournal and thought it was appropriate to start the year with =)

Are you interested in losing weight or committed to losing weight?
I stumbled upon the following snipit on the WW forums a few weeks ago while looking for some motivation:

If you're "interested" in losing weight...

* You stick with it only until something better comes along (such as doughnuts)
* How you feel determines your outcome. If you don't 'feel like it,' you stop your efforts.
* You need to see results. When the scale doesn't move, you lose your motivation.
* You blame everything else (people, travel, circumstances) for your struggles with staying on your diet.
* Whenever you face challenges in life, you give up and plan you'll start your diet again tomorrow.

If you're "committed" to losing weight...

* Nothing stops your efforts. You stick with your diet, "no matter what."
* Emotions don't control your actions. You stay on track even when you don't feel like it.
* Your motivation isn't linked to the scale. You assume that if you stay motivated and work hard, you'll eventually see results.
* You don't depend on other people for your success. You know it's up to you, not them.
* A bad day or a lot of challenges don't affect your efforts. You keep going in spite of it.

I'm 2nd =)

I just wanted to chime in and say hey =) Robin did a great job whipping this up for us in her spare time. I can't wait 'til next week when we all get past the holidays and focused on us!

I thought I would start with the points formula I'm using which I snagged from Peertrainer

Weight Watchers Updated: Your personal daily points target- use this formula

1. Are you
female?- score 2
Male?- score 8
A nursing mom?- score 12

2. How old are you?
17-26- score 4
27-37- score 3
38-47- score 2
48-58- score 1
over 58- score 0

3.What do you weigh?
Enter the first two digits of your weight in pounds.
(for example, if you weight 199, you will add 19 to your score)

4. How tall are you?
Under 5’1- score 0
5’1-5’10- score 1
Over 5’10- score 2

5. How do you spend most of your day?
Sitting down? score 0
Occasionally sitting? score 2
Walking most of the time? score 4
Doing physically hard work most of the time? score 6

Now add them all together and that’s your daily total. You still get an additional 35 weekly points at least according to the 2009 plan that I'm following.

My daily point total is: 25
